Lutheran South Academy is proud to announce the launch of its new varsity lacrosse program, beginning in the 2025–2026 school year, with Dalton Simpson named as the program’s first Head Coach.
Coach Simpson brings a wealth of experience as both a collegiate athlete and accomplished coach at the high school and club levels. A graduate of Florida Southern College with a degree in Sports Business Management, Simpson was a four-year starter and two-time captain for the NCAA Division II Moccasins, earning All-Conference honors and finishing second all-time in games played for the program.
Since transitioning into coaching, Simpson has built a strong reputation for developing competitive teams while mentoring student-athletes on and off the field. He currently serves as a Coach of the Houston Stangs, part of the nationally top-ranked Mad Dog Lacrosse family, and previously held key roles with Newsome High School in Florida—helping guide the program to a state quarterfinals appearance and a #6 statewide ranking. In addition, he has led multiple club teams including Tampa Bay Hawks, Florida Lacrosse Club, and True Tampa, while also working with youth lacrosse development through camps and clinics nationwide.
“Dalton’s passion for the game, his leadership experience, and his proven ability to grow programs make him the perfect fit to build lacrosse at Lutheran South Academy,” said Jon Mueller, Athletic Director. “We are excited to see him develop our student-athletes and establish a competitive program that reflects the spirit of the Pioneers.”
“I’m honored to be named the first head coach of the lacrosse program at Lutheran South Academy,” said Simpson. “Lacrosse has given me so much in life, and I’m excited to share that with our student-athletes—teaching them not only how to compete at a high level, but also how to grow as leaders, teammates, and people.”
The new lacrosse program will join a strong tradition of athletics at Lutheran South Academy, offering student-athletes another exciting opportunity to represent the Pioneers at the varsity level.
