For the 4th straight game, and for the 10th time in their first 11 games this season, the Lady Pioneers volleyball team steam-rolled to victory behind the powerful left arm of Junior Kirra Musgrove while claiming a 3-1 match victory over the St. John's School. In last season's contest, the Pioneers were swept in straight sets on the road 25-14, 25-9, 25-13. This season, the Lady Pioneers would not be denied. After grinding out a 25-22 set 1 victory, the Pioneers dropped set two 11-25 with little to nothing going their way. In response, the Pioneers used hot serving streaks from Taylor Crain and Kaylee Scarborough and a variety of pinpoint kills to respond in a BIG way winning 25-12. LSA never looked back in the decisive 4th set with a 25-11 win, a victory that was never in doubt as they led start to finish in the final set to close out the match.

While the ladies received kill contributions from nearly all of their starting rotation (Pham 7, Keller 5, Wolfgramm 3, Robbins 3, Sambrano 2), it was the pace of Kirra Musgrove that ultimately helped them put the Mavericks away. Musgrove compiled an astounding 21 kills over four sets for a 5.3 kills per set average. She was good for 51.2% of her kills.

The Pioneers put their 10-1 record on the line on Thursday night with a match against Legacy School of Sport Sciences as well as the Houston Open Tournament (hosted by Houston Skyline Juniors) to round out the weekend.
