High School Track

This week was a really productive week for HS Track with 2 meets. One at LSA and the other at the Fort Bend Christian Relays. At the home meet, the Pioneers placed 4th in the girls team race and the boys were 5th. Individually, the Pioneers had 1 individual champion for the meet. Makynna Robbins won the girls pole vault with a vault of 6’6”. The meet saw a lot of personal and season records, great job Pioneers. Results can be found here:

On Saturday, the LSA track athletes traveled to Fort Bend Christian Relays. The boys won the meet with at total of 203.5 point and the girls had a solid 3rd with 94 points. Individually, Ayana Smith kept her winning ways going with individual wins in the 100, 200, and the long jump. Rachel Bell won the discus with a school record throw of 104 feet 6 inches. On the boys side, Perry Brown won the 100 meters, Joel Hutchins won the 200 meters, Marcus Gaitan won the 800 and 1600 meter runs, and Wyatt Maher won the high jump. The relay team of AJ Okwonna, Justin Rogers, Joel Hutchins, and Perry Brown won the 4 x 200 meter relay. There were plenty of personal and seasonal records at this meet. Results can be found here:

Middle School Track

Last week, the middle school track team competed at the LSA Quad meet. We had many of our athletes getting a personal record in their events. One stand out performance was Joshua Gaitan who set a school record for 6th graders in the 1600m run. Our other top performers were:

6th Grade: Victoria David - 100m; Joshua Gaitan - 400m, 800m, 1600m; Greer Vasquez - 1600m; Corbin Waddell - 100m Hurdles, 200m Hurdles; Jeremy Gaitan - Shot Put, Discus; Bristol Hernandez - Discus; Rhet Lavergne - High Jump.

7th Grade: Ally Garza - 200m; Case Noack - 400m, 800m, High Jump; Anna Schepmann - 400m, High Jump, Long Jump; Lanie Ward - 800m, 100m Hurdles; Cook Drager - Shot Put, Discus; Sydney Wade - Shot Put; Elizabeth Hergenrader - 1600m; Boys 4x100m Relay Team (Sam Hergenrader, Cook Drager, Cade LaFavers, and Brenden Perez); Boys 4x400m Relay Team (Tayden Robbins, Sam Hergenrader, Brenden Perez, and Cook Drager); Girls 4x400m Relay Team (Julia Cole, Elisabeth Hergenrader, Madeleine Richards, and Anna Schepmann)

8th Grade: Ellie Stoeckel - 200m; Connor Koss - 400m, High Jump; Ben Edwards - 800m, Triple Jump; Madison Van Wie - 800m; Edward Carter - 100m Hurdles; Cassidy Pfeiffer - 100m Hurdles, 200m Hurdles, Triple Jump; Emma Wells - Shot Put; Ty Nicolosi - Discus; Chidere Anagbogu - Discus; Girls 4x400m Relay Team (Madison Van Wie, Abigail Stoeckel, Ellie Stoeckel, Connor Koss.

High School Softball

Pioneers claimed a 10-4 victory on Tuesday against The Woodlands Christian. Clark led things off on the rubber for the team. Clark surrendered four runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out ten and walking one. The team saw the ball well, racking up eight hits in the game. Gonzalez and Psencik each racked up multiple hits with each managing two hits. Gonzalez, Henderson, and Munoz all drove in runs.

High School Boys Golf

The LSA Boys Golf Team participated in the Southwest Christian Golf Tournament last week. The boys finished strongly as a group taking 2nd place overall (their 2nd straight 2nd place finish). The boys team got contributions from Jack Pickarts, Jacob Villarreal, Jaxon Crain, William Whitworth, Cade Goldstraw, Reid Goldstraw, and Ethan Lesak while being led by Rhett Newkirk and Michael Perusse. Rhett and Michael both placed in the individual top 10 taking 4th place and 7thplace overall respectively. The boys will compete again this Tuesday at the Woodlands Christian Tournament.

CONGRATULATIONS to the entire team for an awesome District performance this week!! It was VERY impressive to see our student athletes engage the competition and battle throughout!

Seven Players earned a trip to the TAPPS STATE Tennis Tournament this year!! The Boys Team earned 2nd place in District!!

Boys Doubles District 3rd Place: Derek Ying & Zachary Chen
Boys Singles District 3rd Place: Michael Barton
State Alternate Girls Singles Paris Emeish (5th place)
Harrison Conway- Boys Singles 6th place finish, earning two district wins.
Christina Korman/Nisha Shah girls doubles won their first round match and fell to eventual district champions in round 2.
Zaina Nateel- Girls Singles: Wonderful season with tremendous progress!!

Middle School Tennis

The Middle School Tennis team had a very successful week winning 10 of 13 matches on Monday, March 22 against Cornerstone Christian Academy. On Wednesday, March 24, they had another very successful day winning 9 of 14 matches against St Thomas Episcopal.
