Middle School Girls Basketball
from Coach Ward
The middle school varsity girls opened the GHAC conference tournament this past Tuesday with a tough draw against tournament favorite, St. Thomas Episcopal. After withstanding an opening run by STES, the girls clawed back into the game behind the aggressive play of Elisabeth Hergenrader, but were ultimately unable to overcome a barrage of three-pointers and overall strong play from the Saints. Anna Schepmann led the way offensively with ten points. The Lady Pioneers bounced back on Thursday with a hard-fought 31-26 victory over Trafton. Schepmann again led the way with 18 points, with Hergenrader, Evynn Kubicek, Jordyn Mayo, and Sydney Wade all getting their names in the scoring column as well. The Pioneers play at Westbury Christian this Tuesday for the consolation championship before traveling up north for the Salem 7th & Under Tournament.

Middle School Boys Basketball
from Coach Tarpey and Coach Mecom
What a week for the boys 8th grade team! The Pioneers started the week with a dominant win in the first game of GHAC tournament play over Grace Presbyterian. The boys were missing two starters, but that did not slow them down as they had a number of players step up in their absence as the boys rolled in game one of the tournament. The Pioneers followed this up with a big time matchup against Trafton in the semifinals of the GHAC tournament. The two teams had played a thriller 61-60 game in November in which our Pioneers came out on top, Thursday night would hold much of the same! After a back and forth game, the Pioneers pulled away late and wound up winning by 10. This game was a total team effort and showed a lot of guts by our boys! As a result of this win the Pioneers will be playing for the GHAC Championship at Fort Bend Christian on Tuesday night!

The MS JV team rallied from an 11 point half time defect to beat Bay Area Christian by 2 points. The Pioneers made points out of forcing turnovers and finished the job late thanks to some clutch free throws by Viv. Bay Area struggled to get the ball past half court in the 2nd half.

Middle School Girls Soccer
from Coach Hoch
The Middle School Girls’ Soccer team had their final two games of the season this past week. On Tuesday, they took on Fort Bend at home. The girls were able to pull off a victory against the Eagles, which put them in the Championship game against Grace School. The girls played hard and were able to score early on in the game. However, when the final whistle blew, they fell short and lost 4-1. The girls ended their season with a winning record of 6-2 and took second place overall in their conference. Congratulations on a very successful season, girls!
